Fools and Worthless Liars - Deaf Havana

I don't believe in liking a band just because they came from/live in your town. That's like limiting
yourself to one genre, or living for trends. Music wasn't made for that.

If someone told me there was an amazing band from King's Lynn, in all honesty, I probably
wouldn't believe you. Because I don't associate the word 'amazing' with this town at all.
But it's true...
They are Deaf Havana and they are indeed amazing.

I didn't manage to buy a physical copy of their album until 2 days after it was released, because
it was sold out. Which is why it's taken me this long to write about it...

Fools And Worthless Liars

'The Past Six Years' is a perfect opening track for the album! And possibly my favourite on the album.
Acoustics?! Yes.
I don't often listen to an album from beginning to end, like a lot of people, I pick and choose.
Listening to The Past Six Years made it possible for me to listen from the start and be content with just listening through.

The beginning vocals on 'I will try' are amazing. My automatic reaction was 'instant
favourite' and that was just a few seconds in. It just got better and better. The lyrics are kind of incredible too! Which just makes me love it even more.

I noticed a few people saying that it's a lot 'different' than what Deaf Havana done
previously. And that this album isn't 'rock' enough. I think there are a lot of songs on Fools
and Worthless Liars packed full of rock and there were genuine moments I had belief it could be a brilliant rock album if people gave it a chance.
Songs like 'Anemophobia' are a perfect example.

Luckily a lot of people are giving it a chance, including a four K review from Kerrang!
Rock sound gave it a 9 and it got a 9/10 from ourzonemag.com
And a whole bunch of proud tweets from fans.

And considering I couldn't get it for 2 days... I would say it's doing pretty well.
And so it should!

Song of the Day [05/11/11]

Pillows - Automatic Loveletter

Save Yourself - Follow You Home

Truth be told, I don't really do reviews as such - I do musings and thoughts.
And this is what this is really.  Just so you know.

I pre-ordered Follow You Home's new EP 'Save Yourself' and it came in the post
this morning! So, excitedly, I opened it and immeditely took a photo:
(If you follow me on twitter, you already know this)

When I re-started this blog, I mentioned Follow You Home in the first post,
so if you want my thoughts on the actual band you can find that {here} -
But I want to focus on the EP for this post.

I think the design is perfect and very impressive, the photo is stunning.
(Forever thinking about photos.)
Also, it's signed, so that's just another plus.
The songs are just as epic as I thought they would be and not one
of them disappoints. Although 'Once Upon A Lie' has been a favourite since I first listened to
Follow You Home, if I had to pick a new favourite for the purpose of this, it would be
'Save Yourself ' - I think it's amazing, as are the lyrics.
'Playing With Fire' went on repeat when I downloaded it for free from their site.
If I had any doubts about getting their EP, listening to 'Playing With Fire' erased those
doubts completely.
Which leaves one track, 'Eyes Wide Open' - Which is brilliant and a perfect end to the EP.

You can still pre-order it now at: http://followyouhome.bigcartel.com/
& For £3, you really don't have any excuse not to buy it. You don't need me to tell you that, right?

Follow You Home are arriving with a bang in the world of rock music.
So I suggest you become one of those lucky people that have their signed EP.

[Feature] Automatic Loveletter

Automatic Loveletter

Automatic Loveletter is a rock band, with acoustic influences, from the US. The band formed in Tampa, Florida, in 2007, led by vocalist and guitarist Juliet Simms, her older brother and lead guitarist Tommy Simms, drummer Ryan Metcalf, and bassist Clint Fowler.

Simms and her longtime drummer and collaborator, Daniel Currier, recorded with producer Matt Squire (Panic at the Disco, All Time Low) for their Recover EP, which was released exclusively by Hot Topic in 2008, and with Curt Schneider for their iTunes EP Automatic Loveletter, which came out in early 2009. Between writing and recording, the band toured the country, first in two cars, then in a bigger car with a UHaul attached, and eventually in a van. They shared the stage with Secondhand Serenade, Cute Is What We Aim For, From First To Last, Say Anything, Between the Trees and Craig Owens, and played Bamboozle and Bamboozle Left in 2008. The highlight came in the summer of 2008, when Automatic Loveletter got themselves on the Vans Warped Tour, where they drastically increased their fanbase and honed their live performance

Up to and while touring with 2008 Vans Warped Tour, Automatic Loveletter held #1 or #2 position on the Myspace Music Emo chart for 6 months, hitting 10 million listens.

On 9/8/11 A.LL released "Dream With Me" to support those who have lost a loved one in the 9/11 attacks and hoping for peace.

Their latest album, 'The Kids Will Take Their Monsters On' is quite literally one of my favourite albums, ever.
It's almost completely acoustic and Juliet Simms' vocals meant there was no way it wouldn't also become
one of the albums I listen to every day.
I can't fault it.

Danger - Sumo Cyco (Music Video)

I tend to lose my faith in music videos sometimes, it's like they all have the same base and no one's
willing to break out and do something different.
And then there are a few exceptions... like Sumo Cyco, who make music videos bursting with
action and a story.
Check out their latest music video for 'Danger' below -

5 Favourite Musicians Following Me On Twitter

I'm always mind blown by the amount of talent that is following me
on twitter, I thought some of that talent should be shared so I've picked 5 of my
favourites...

Twin sister's Christie & Loui have a magical balance of pop/rock & folk and their sound is truly infectious! I predict their debut album will be amazing... Head over to their MMC page to help them fund it and own a share!

Female fronted punk/rock band Follow You Home have that perfect mix of melody & rock  that I look for in a band. They also have honest lyrics, which is always something you can't go wrong with.

I think sometimes female fronted bands can be dismissed quite quickly and it's somewhat of a mine-field - you have to have something that makes people look up and take notice.
That 'something' that no one can ever seem to sum up... Follow You Home have that something.
They're currently offering a free download of their song 'Playing With Fire' - Check out their site for more info: http://www.followyouhome.com/

This is a perfect example of why I chose the words 'mind blown' at the beginning of this post.
At such a young age, Canadian country singer Tenille has released an album full of truly incredible songs that have literally blown me away.
Check out her websitehttp://www.tenille.ca

If there's one thing I have to say it's, listening to one man band Sail By The Stars instantly raises my happiness. That's always a wonderful thing to be able to do.
Check out his songs on his websitehttp://www.sailbythestars.net/

I first started listening to Robbie Jay when I was on Blog TV and have followed him since.
He has a voice that I can only describe as lovely and guitar skills that I'm mighty jealous of.
I think he has a fantastic career ahead of him.
His youtube channel proves he is versatile and that's something very valuable.

I fully recommend and suggest you check all of these out and of course,
I thank them kindly for following me! That amazes me.
